If you are based in NZ, check out the 3 News Firstline interview with Chris Rodley CEO SnapIT tomorrow morning.
View other cameras in the player and flash 10.3 backwards compatibility
Today and yesterday made some big progress with Flash again.
The online player is now compatible back to version 10.3 of flash - which means most of the population will be able to use the player without having to upgrade.
It is still VERY advisable that you upgrade your flash versions - there are a number of security issues that arise from using old versions.
Also, we have added the ability to view other cameras from inside the player by clicking a side tab.
This is available on all platforms from today - including Metservice.com
Enjoy - as always, feedback / bug reports much appreciated!
Cameras being launch with TV3′s Firstline from 6am – 8:30am daily
Good news - TV3's Firstline will begin using the promotional camera network every morning as part of their weather and ski report news.
This will be up to 15 slots per week.
Upgraded online player – you can now navigate around the camera network from inside the player!
We have just released another major upgrade to the Encounter webcam player.
You now have the ability to change to different webcams without leaving the player software.
This will be available at all locations apart from Metservice.com and Takeabreak.co.nz who have yet to update their systems - should be soon
Beta Android App ready for testing
Below is a link to the new Beta Android App for testing.
New features added are the ability to move through all the cameras via an interactive menu and scrolling with your fingers.
You will need your phone in developer mode by ticking the unknown sources box in application settings.
Then download the link below:
http://www.snapithd.com/android/Encounter2Air.apk
You will also need to download Adobe AIR - you should be prompted to do that automatically.
Let me know any feedback!
iOS - iPhone, iPad coming soon!
Rain rain go away!
Raindrops on the lens appear quite exaggerated on the 360 cameras - we are working on a fix for this.
A local company is producing a high-tech chemical for glass that keeps it clean and makes rain bead off.
We will be running tests on this over the next few days - will let you know how it goes.
Hopefully a good solution!
New SnapitHD3 – 360 degree player now launched with timelapse – demo here!
The new SnapitHD3 Encounter 360 degree online software has launched and is ready to demo below.
This player is much faster, slicker and works on more devices.
We have also added the timelapse feature - after the timelapse is buffered you will see it pop up in the bottom part of the screen.
You can then scroll back and forth through time while still looking around 360 degrees.
PLEASE NOTE: There are NO moving parts on this camera. Lots of people are still thinking that the camera is motorised or that it is taking a bunch of shots and then stitching them together. This is not the case - there are truly no moving parts.
There is a small bug with the SnapitHD logo obscuring the timelapse control which means it won't work.
In the mean time try the full screen version here:
Please let us know any feedback you may have!
Coming soon - the ability to view other cameras from inside the player software.
Also, long awaited Android and iPhone and iPad apps should be ready within the next few days.
New SnapitHD Encounter player now online
Today we have run a big update of the Encounter player that is featured on MetService.com, Takeabreak.co.nz and many other sites online.
You will notice that it is much quicker when you scroll back and forth through the timelapse.
We have basically re-writen the built in seek in Flash (which has been buggy for the past 2 releases).
You should notice a much quicker and cleaner experience.
Please let us know if you are having any problems on your system.
Try it out here:
Coming later this week is the highly anticipated release of the Encounter 360 player which will add timelapse and improved image quality to our existing player located at www.snapithd.com/launch/
/// Amazing traffic to the webcam network today with the huge snow, wind and rain that we are seeing in NZ!
